GRANT AWARDS FOR YEAR 2009

The year 2009 grant awards supported the following projects and activities from the Bowling Green Community Foundation Unrestricted Fund, with additional funds from the Green Family Fund, Marsh Family Fund, Pallister Fund and Town/Gown Fund:

· Aids Resource Center - To provide programming services for youth who are at significant risk of HIV transmission.

· BG Junior High Archery Program - To provide funds to replace archery equipment.

· BG Pee Wee League - To fund scholarships for fees for needy families.

· BG Teen Central - To purchase supplies/materials to make a "Homework Center" in the Bowling Green Teen Center.

· BG Youth Football - To purchase needed equipment and to help needy families by funding the fees.

· BGHS After Prom Commiteee - To provide a safe After Prom experience for BG High School students.

· Black Swamp Herb Society - To help fund a concrete compost facility and shredder for waste materials.

· The Cocoon Shelter - To create a "Safety Net" for victims of abuse who would not receive help through other community resources.

· Children's Resource Center - To purchase the Incredible Years Baby and Toddler Parent Program curriculum.

· Church of the Nazarene Upward Bound Program - Funds from March Family Fund to help purchase basketball equipment and to help with fees for needy families.

· Dear Santa Program - To provide needy families food, toys and clothing at Christmas.

· Diabetes Youth Services - To help fund scholarships for children with diabetes to attend summer camp to learn how to self manage the disease.

· Kids on the Block-Ohio - To fund replacement of one puppet/wheelchair for use in educating children about disabilities.

· St. Aloysius Catholic Elementary & Jr. High- To help purchase start-up supplies for a new kindergarten readiness program open to all area children.

· United Christian Fellowship - To pay for an AmeriCorps Garden Coordinator and to contribute to the cost of top soil for community gardens.

· United Christian Fellowship (Home Aid) - To help with the expense for emergency housing apartments.

· University Women/Wood County District Public Library - Funds from the Town/Gown Fund to implement a summer literature-based math program for children, ages 5-10, entitled, "Let's Do Math."

· Victims Services of Behavioral Connections - Funds from the Green Family Fund to purchase supplies/materials to begin an enrichment program for children held during the domestic violence support group meetings.

· Wood County District Public Library - Funds from the Pallister Fund to continue to expand the media collection.

· Wood County Sheriff's Office - To help fund the "Shop With A Cop" program, where underprivileged children shop with the police for shoes, coats and a toy.

 

The year 2009 grant awards also supported the following projects and activities from the BGCF Unrestricted Fund:

· BGHS Graduating Seniors - two $1,000 scholarships

 

The year 2009 grant awards also supported the following projects and activities from the Marsh Family Fund:

· BGHS Graduating Seniors - two $1,000 scholarships to Owens Community College.

 

The year 2009 grant awards also supported the following projects and activities from the Ashel and Dorothy Bryan Fund:

· BGHS Graduating Senior - a $2,000 scholarship.

In addition, awards from the Bryan Fund went to:

· BG Parks & Recreation, First Christian Church of BG, Sauder Village, and Toledo School of the Arts.
