GRANT AWARDS FOR YEAR 2008The year 2008 grant awards supported the following projects and activities from the Bowling Green Community Foundation Unrestricted Fund, with additional funds from the Cormier Fund, Green Family Fund, Pallister Fund and Town/Gown Fund:· Art -a-Site Gallery & Studio - To fund materials and supplies to ready the gallery for displaying artwork of local area students and residents and to provide a venue to teach art classes. · Arts in Common Gallery - To fund the first Annual Juried Art Show. · Arts in Common Gallery - To fund the “Bowling Green Postcard Series Competition” where local artist submit entries with images evocative of Bowling Green and/or Wood County. · Beautiful Bowling Green, Inc. - To help fund the replacement for the city entrance sign on N. Main. · Bella Voci da Camera - To help fund startup costs of a regional, high-level professional Chamber Choir. · Black Swamp Conservancy - To help provide funds for a stewardship manager. · BGHS After Prom Committee - Funds from Green Family Fund to provide a safe After Prom experience for BGHS students . · BGHS Peer Mediation - To provide team building with the current 30 BGHS peer mediators who help resolve conflict situations among disputing students. · BG Youth Football - To fund purchase of equipment to teach and develop basic football skills. · BGSU Fine Arts Center Galleries - To assist in funding public and community engagement activities occurring in conjunction with the exhibition “Graphic Language.” · The Cocoon Shelter - To help fund empowerment resources to be made available to victims of abuse and their children who reside at the Cocoon Shelter. · Friends of Wood County CASA Program - To provide financial support to help offset costs incurred through travel for information gathering. · Kids on the Block-Ohio - To fund replacement of two puppets and some clothes for use in educating children about disabilities, teach respect and acceptance and build self esteem. · National Alliance on Mental Illness - To provide educational and library materials used in classes for families of persons with mental health disorders. · Prevent Blindness Ohio, NW Chapter - To provide funds for comprehensive vision care services to medically indigent children and adults. · Rudolph Little League - To help fund erection of a batting cage at the ball diamond in Rudolph. · Victims Services of Behavioral Connections - To fund the second annual Survivors Art Show. · Wood County 4-H Program - To help fund the BG 4th Grade Ag-Fest at which BG students learn about Agriculture in Wood County. · Wood County Committee on Aging - To fund an area wide conference on sexuality, HIV / Aids, and health for seniors. · Wood County District Public Library - To fund a “Bug Jar Laboratory” to motivate children to participate in the “Catch the Reading Bug” summer reading program. · Wood County Gang Task Force - To fund paint for the eradication of graffiti from sites for property owners, free of charge. · Wood County Gift Exchange - To fund training of staff and provide background checks for volunteers. · Wood County Humane Society - To fund startup costs of a “Senior Companions” program. · Wood County Prosecutor's Office - To fund the Youth Violence Prevention seminar addressing topics of suicide prevention, internet predators and delinquency. · Wood County Sheriff's Office - To fund the Shop With A Cop program, where underprivileged children shop with the police for shoes, coats and a toy. · Wood County District Public Library - Funds from The Janis L. Pallister Fund are used to purchase DVD’s and CD’s for the library’s collection.
The year 2008 grant awards supported the following projects and activities from the Ashel and Dorothy Bryan Fund:· BGHS Graduating Senior - a $2,000 scholarship, also awards to Boy Scouts, Lourdes College, Toledo School of the Arts, and First Christian Church of BG.
